Leader Election in Well-Connected Graphs

چکیده
In this paper, we look at the problem of randomized leader election in synchronous distributed networks with a special focus on message complexity. We provide an algorithm that solves implicit version (where non-leader nodes need not be aware identity leader) any general network $$O(\sqrt{n} \log ^{7/2} n \cdot t_{mix})$$ messages and $$O(t_{mix}\log ^2 n)$$ time, where is number $$t_{mix}$$ refers to mixing time random walk graph G. For several classes well-connected (that have large conductance or alternatively small times e.g., expanders, hypercubes, etc), above result implies extremely efficient (sublinear running messages) algorithms. Correspondingly, show substantial improvement possible over our algorithm, by presenting almost matching lower bound for election. $$\varOmega (\sqrt{n}/\phi ^{3/4})$$ are needed succeeds probability least $$1-o(1)$$ , $$\phi $$ graph. To best knowledge, first work shows dependence between complexity solve connectivity G, which often characterized graph’s . Apart from (m)$$ Kutten et al. (J ACM 62(1):7:1–7:27, 2015) m denotes edges graph), also provides one non-trivial bounds networks.

Leader Election in Abelian Cayley Graphs
In this paper we consider the problem of distributed leader election in unoriented Abelian Cayley graphs of degree 4. This family of graphs, denoted by C G 4, include bidimensional tori of arbitrary size and chordal rings with one arbitrary chord. We present an algorithm which assumes that the only structural knowledge available to the nodes is “I am in an Abelian Cayley Graph of degree 4”. The...
متن کاملLeader Election in Hyper-Butterfly Graphs
Leader election in a network is one of the most important problems in the area of distributed algorithm design. Consider any network of N nodes; a leader node is defined to be any node of the network unambiguously identified by some characteristics (unique from all other nodes). A leader election process is defined to be a uniform algorithm (code) executed at each node of the network; at the en...
متن کاملLeader election in oriented star graphs
Leader election in a network plays an important role in the area of distributed algorithm design. Structural properties of the network as well as presence of direction on the edges of the network greatly affects the complexity of the leader election problem which is primarily measure by the message complexity of the protocol. Our purpose in the present paper is to adapt the existing distributed...
متن کاملA Self-Stabilizing Leader Election Algorithm for Tree Graphs
We propose a self stabilizing algorithm (protocol) for leader election in a tree graph. We show the correctness of the proposed algorithm by using a new technique involving induction.
متن کاملRobust Stabilizing Leader Election
In this paper, we mix two well-known approaches of the fault-tolerance: robustness and stabilization. Robustnessis the aptitude of an algorithm to withstand permanent failures such as process crashes. The stabilization is a generaltechnique to design algorithms tolerating transient failures. Using these two approaches, we propose algorithms thattolerate both transient and crash fail...
